Training in
Ookami Dojo is a traditional Japanese Martial Arts Dojo teaching Samuraijutsu and Ninjutsu as taught by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi.
Ookami Dojo is a private Dojo, not a commercial dojo. We do not accept any and all students. We do this so each class is catered to the level, progress and knowledge base of dedicated students.
We train in the 9 ryu ha. 3 schools of the Ninja, 6 schools of the samurai. For the most part, the first few years are spent training in kihon which is the opening foundation needed for all 9 schools. Kihon covers taihenjutsu(break falling and rolling), weapons like Katana, Bokken, Tanto, Bo, Jo, Hanbo, Bo-Shuriken and also Taijutsu (body movement). We are a tradition steeped in Japanese martial tradition, etiquette and culture.
Our training is both physical and studious. It’s intertwined with doing, writting what you do and learning the history, names and reasoning behind each movement. We do not focus on Rank as a way of gauging your aptitude, though we do have rank.
We are not a sport based modern martial art, we are traditional. Our techniques were crafted and honed on the battle field, not in a ring. We do not spar or compete with each other, as most of our techniques when applied by a properly trained practitioner are extremely devastating and dangerous.
I have extensively trained in Mixed martial arts since I was three, and in Bujinkan for over 20 years. The name of my Dojo is Ookami Dojo which means School Of The Wolf.
I am a licensed and certified Shidoshi in Japan with direct permission to teach Ninjutsu from Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. When traveling to Japan to train, I train at the Ishizuka Dojo in Noda Chiba.
